Freeridge

Freeridge

Release date: February 2, 2023

How to watch: Netflix; trailer

Why to watch: Fans of On My Block rejoice! Freeridge is a spin-off of the beloved coming-of-age series, which streamed for four seasons. Like On My Block, Freeridge follows a quartet of teenage friends navigating their way through Los Angeles. Unlike On My Block, Freeridge has a supernatural spin. Starring a charming cast of up-and-coming young stars, including Keyla Monterroso Mejia, last seen as a teacher's aide in Abbott Elementary but most well known for her hilarious breakthrough role as the thorn in Larry's side in another #SessionsFamily show, Curb Your Enthusiasm

Knock at the Cabin

Knock at the Cabin

Release date: February 3, 2023

How to watch: In theaters; trailer

Why to watch: What would you do if Dave Bautista showed up at your idyllic cabin door with three armed strangers and told you that you could save humanity if you made an unthinkable choice? This is the dilemma a young family, led by Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge, face in the latest thriller from master of twists, M. Night Shyamalan. Shyamalan adapted the story from the book by Paul Tremblay, which has a controversial ending that Shyamalan changed. Like all Shyamalan films, expect the unexpected. FilmTwitter is already abuzz with positive early reviews and high praise for Bautista's performance.

Somebody I Used To Know

Somebody I Used To Know

Release date: February 10, 2023

How to watch: Prime Video; trailer

Why to watch: Adorable married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie co-wrote their upcoming romantic comedy, which Franco directed and Brie stars in alongside Insecure and Top Gun 2 heartthrob Jay Ellis, Kiersey Clemons and Brie's Community co-star Danny Pudi. Brie plays workaholic Ally who returns to her hometown and runs into her ex, Sean (Ellis). Ally finds the spark's still there with Sean (who wouldn't have chemistry with Jay Ellis?) but he's engaged to Clemons' free-spirited character, who reminds Ally of her own younger self and with whom Ally also shares some sparks. Brie is seemingly incapable of a bad performance and this is a love triangle where you root for all three participants to be happy.

Sharper

Sharper

Release date: February 10 (theaters), February 17, 2023

How to watch: In select theaters and AppleTV+; trailer

Why to watch: In just one decade, A24 has built one of the most envious followings. They've done so with impeccable taste, aligning with some of the most exciting up-and-coming directors and handing auteurs the keys to their kingdom. Their latest likely hit is the feature film directorial debut of BAFTA and Emmy-award winning director Benjamin Caron (Andor, The Crown). The luminous Julianne Moore and Marvel superhero Sebastian Stan play con artists with their sights set on a Manhattan billionaire played by a dapper-looking John Lithgow. No one is who they seem in this twisty psychological thriller, which AppleTV+ will release in select theaters before streaming on their platform February 17.
